The Viscerocranium

• The viscerocranium is made up of several bones
  • 1x Maxilla
  • 2x Nasal
  • 2x Lacrimal
  • 2x Zygomatic
  • 1x Palatine
  • 1x Inferior concha (S+M in NC)
  • 1x Vomer
  • 1x Frontal bone (also part of the neurocranium but derived embryologically together with the viscerocranium)
• These bones are also joined by sutures
  • • NB the mandible is not technically part of the viscerocranium
